Kabbalat Shabbat
At Congregation Beth Shalom of The Woodlands, we offer a variety of services and worship-related activities. If you are looking for a place of worship, we invite you to get in touch with us HERE (for security reasons, advance visitor registration and approval is required). We use the Reform Jewish prayer book, Mishkan T’filah and, at times, our own prayer book.
Friday Evening Shabbat Services
Shabbat evening services (offered in-person and streamed live on Facebook) are held every Friday and last about an hour. Rabbi Goldberg leads the congregation in prayer and singing and offers a d’var Torah (sermonette).
Services are immediately followed by an Oneg (reception) at which we say Kiddush and the Hamotzi (consecrating Shabbat with wine and challah). Oneg is a beloved tradition at CBSW, as we enjoy light refreshments, catch up with old friends, and make new friends!
(For security reasons, advance visitor registration and approval is required. This may take several days, so, if you would like to join us for services, please reach out HERE well before the day of visit.)
Tot Shabbat
Our Tot Shabbat service is for children ages 2-to-7 and their families, and is offered one Friday each month during the school year. These are wonderful services, featuring music, stories, and educational opportunities to begin building your child(ren)'s joy for celebrating Shabbat. Please reach out to Helen Richard HERE for this year's schedule.
Friday Night Lights
Music is a much-loved component of worship services at CBSW. So much so that we created our own band to help us celebrate Shabbat. Check calendar for dates.
Shabbat Mornings
Shabbat Torah Study with Rabbi Goldberg. Join us at 8:30 a.m. in the Rabbi's study or on zoom each Saturday morning. Explore the weekly Parashah and how it may relate to current events in our community or globally.
Shabbat morning services are occasionally held on Saturdays. Our worship is filled with prayer, music, meditations, poetry, and words of Torah. Check calendar for dates.
We also offer festival morning services, including Yizkor memorial prayers.
