Helen was born and raised in Israel and came to the United States in 1988. Helen moved to Texas in 2002 and resides in Montgomery and quickly became a treasured member of our community. She has two teenage sons, Travis & Troy.
Helen has 24 years of experience in the Jewish communal service in Israel, Los Angeles, New Jersey, and Las Vegas. Her skills include programming, fundraising, budget management, and volunteer recruitment. She is known for her strong interpersonal skills and has worked closely with peers, lay leaders, committees, and community.
The greatest influences in Helen's life are her grandfather and father. Helen's grandfather was known as “The Great Rabbi” of Cairo, Egypt during the 1930s through the 1940s who helped smuggle Jews to Palestine before Israel became a state. Upon relocating to Israel her grandfather and father built a synagogue in their new home town, Herzliya, where they served as Rabbi and Cantor. As a result, Helen's mission in life is to educate people of all ages to understand our tradition, religion, and motivate them to experience Israel. “Am Yisrael Chai” (The Jewish People Live!)
Jen joined Congregation Beth Shalom in Autumn of 2014. She is very happy fulfilling the role of Temple Administrator. She enjoys the work, the welcoming atmosphere, and especially the lovely people who make up the CBSW family.
