Shabbat Services Our congregation joins the Rabbi in spirited worship as we welcome Shabbat as a community.
One Shabbat Minyan A Shabbat experience that includes joyful worship, spirited singing and inspirational learning. Congregants are invited to bring musical instruments. A light brunch follows services. Generally held on the first Saturday morning each month at 9:00 am (September - May). (Please call the temple office to confirm any dates.) Shabbat Shelanu Young children ages 3 through 7 years and their families join the Rabbi in the sanctuary for a joyful Shabbat celebration featuring puppets, songs, stories, and a Torah parade. Generally held on the first Friday evening of each month at 6:00pm (September - May) Shabbat Children's Workshops Cultural arts workshops are held during Shabbat worship services for children ages 3-9. Families begin Shabbat together in the sanctuary for Shabbat songs and candle lighting. The children are then escorted to the Religious School Wing for age appropriate workshops. Held periodically throughout the year at 7:30pm (September - May) Specal Shabbat Services Throughout the year, there are many special Shabbat services that highlight affiliate and auxiliary groups within our congregation and our community. These services include Teacher Appreciation Shabbat, Board Recognition Shabbat, New Member Shabbat, and a Camp Shabbat that honors our children attending Greene Family Camp. Festival Services Services are held in observance of all major holidays and festivals. Students entering the Kadimah program in our Religious School (3rd grade) are consecrated each autumn on Simchat Torah. Students completing the 10th grade are confirmed each spring on Shavuot. Holiday Celebrations In addition to worship services in the sanctuary, holidays a CBSW are marked by festive programs and congregational celebrations. Annual celebrations include a Sukkot picnic, Chanukah party, Purim Carnival, and a Passover Seder. Each winter the congregation's Festival Tu b'Shevat is a highlight of our holiday programming. Please note: Times, dates of services, and programs change to accommodate special events. Updates to our schedule of services and programs are available in the temple newsletter, "The Sh'ma", and through the temple office at 281-362-1100.
